I have to eat it a certain way in order for the fortune to come true. so i break the cookie in half, pull out the fortune and lay it on my lap (*upside down*), eat the right half of the cookie first, then the left half...it is important to take my time.
Finished eating? ok, NOW turn the fortune over and reveal it's prophecy:

Never let an opportunity pass you by. personally, i was hoping for something a little less cliche. but oh well. i read it out loud for the curious folks, then followed up with "i don't know what that means!!"
I think my dad was concerned and began explaining: "it means if you were offered a job you should take it....if...you should do it....if..." other people pitched in too with their witty comments here and there. well yeah. i get what it says, but what does it really meaaaann? what opportunity? how will i know when i see it? am i taking a fortune too seriously? but no, i must not let this opportunity to follow a fortune cookie to pass me by!
Well, anyways, i folded it in half and stuck it in my pocket...another ritual to make sure it comes true.
Later that night, Dr.-- came in. (i won't say names, but if you really want to know, i'm pretty sure he's the only big jamaican guy at southern hills hospital). he gave his 5 min shpeel on how amy should take care of herself....since she was ready to be discharged with emma that night(!), and stayed for a total of one hour just chatting it up with us about random things. he's so funny and awesome - sad to think he won't be around in 3 years when he retires.
Just before he left, he turned to me and ash and said, "if you ever want to come in for a day or two as my students, you can come watch how things work in the delivery room." !!! (he knew ash is studying for labor & delivery nurse and i'm into OT). the condition was that we have to control our reactions so we don't freak out the women giving birth.
Ashley and i high-fived when he left. amazing opportunity!!!!! wait! i just said opportunity. right then i pulled out my fortune with bulging eyes and thought i saw it glowing with fulfillment. i showed it around the room once again, but this time with reverenced awe.
I guess this is the opportunity i'm not supposed to let pass! (it says 'never' let an opportunity pass me by, but hey). i'm so freakin excited!
I do. i do. i do believe in panda express fortune cookies!
