kitty cat

Emma loves kitty cats! jay & amy have a cat that likes to linger outside their living room door. he was jay's cat growing up, then went wild, and returned when jay moved back into his old house.

Every time the cat comes up to the sliding glass doors & emma sees, she immediately gasps & points at the cat as she looks over at you with her chinese squinty eyes and gaping smile.

As she points she whispers "katty ka, katty ka." she chuckles, then sighs.

At our home it's the same. open the back door, Bailey comes stretching out of her little box, and emma gasps, points, and smiles. it's pure cheese. love it.

So a couple days ago, i heard my sister and emma going through this little jig of "what does a dog say..." etc. and emma immediately started barking "bar bar bar!" i almost killed over. say whaaaaa!

On tuesday, i went on a little walk with her down the street. she has sharp ears. there would occasionally be dogs barking in the distance that i only noticed because emma would randomly start barking as i carried her down the sidewalk. only when she heard a dog...she's so funny. :)

I finally caught it on camera...or at least, what i could. she'd already been through one round of this before i pulled out my camera. by then, she was slacking on some of her animal impersonations.

But take a look! it'll crack you up! :)

Gotta love this girl. 18 months this May!!! almost 19 months...gheee.
Whatcha think guys! time for number 2?? ,'=]

sand or stone

I was browsing through a good ole website of stories and quotes. this one i felt like sharing.
You see, i totally get the 'forgiving' thing. and the 'only see the good' thing too. maybe that's why i use the word FRIEND lightly. because i really do see lots of people as my friend.

But it's also a problem. i've written so many things in sand so quickly, i forget sometimes i do get offended. all my focus is on good things about my friends.

So it's easy for me to forget that my friends can also get offended...by what i do.
I just hope you write in sand.

Sand versus stone.
I'm not the best friend ever by far, but this just might be one i've got figured.

P.S. "There isn't anyone you couldn't love once you've heard their story."
Still love that. always will. & i know it ties in somehow to all this...just gotta think hard enough..bleh:p

quickly turn it upside down!

If you chance to meet a frown,
Do not let it stay!
Quickly turn it upside down and smile that frown away.

I vividly remember my dad singing this song to me when i was little. they say that i cried a lot as a wee one....but i didn't really; they don't know what they're talking about.

Annnywho, i went through a phase where i often petitioned with my dad to sing this to me. because it was awesome! every time we got to the "quickly turn it upside down" part, he would flip me over & i would just dangle there until the song was over.

Sometimes my dad would say, "but you don't have a frowny face." here's the perks to being a smart kid. i would immediately force my lips into a downward U. >> the frown.
He'd roll his eyes. at least i could totally feel his reluctance to sing again...
Then he's start softly, slowly....and speed up at the part he had to flip me upside down! suspense. it was genius. it was great.

I can still feel the devious grin crawling over my face as the song started, in knowing anticipation. the brief swooping moment followed as my feet left the ground and the world briefly spun around me.
I can still feel the blood rush up into my forehead, then my ears, then eyes...my long brown hair swaying above me.

It was a small triumph knowing dad gave in & did it that one more time. dad probably has, but i have not forgotten... this little memory.

And it makes me smile. :)

No one likes a frowny-face.
Change it for a smile.
Make the world a better place by smiling all the while.

i'm aging

Signs of an aging COTA:

1. you can pick out an older lady's medical history at food 4 less just by how she walks.
2. you a-little-too-comfortably participate in conversations about personal health problems -- because it's fun.
3. when great-grandma comes to visit for the first time in years, you are hasty to help her stand & lift her by her pelvis (ahem) to give her a boost. she looks at you funny.
4. then you follow her to the bathroom. she looks at you incredulously, says "goodbye" and closes the bathroom door in your face.
5. you remember she's been walking on her own for years. she's not your patient, fool.
6. you have an official "6 month appraisal" with your supervisors. they tell you you've passed probation. they update you on umc policies. it's now very unlikely to ever get fired. and they try to convince you that you're planning on working there for another 12 years.

I'm a six-monther as of april. my treatments are smoother. i'm getting comfortable with conversing with my patients. i'm more confident with my own decisions and judgement. i think i'm even starting to get a little lazy! haha oops. i'm just feeling more fluid with my role and my job.

No one's died on me yet. i haven't killed anyone. i'm getting to know the other therapists better. and i only dropped a man once! (true story. he's okay though, but it wasn't on our agenda.)

So hurrah! HUZZAH HUZZAH. i'm in business baby.

Our PT friends got us cake for April -- occupational therapy month. it was the most delicious pastry known to man. marble chocolate glory disguised as cake...glorified cake, if you will. i don't even like cake, but this was divine.
