21-6

How would you react if you were in the middle of a work-day and got a text from your brother...who never texts you by the doggone way, and this is what it reads:

"We have been challenged in basketball for our honor and money.... We have to win 21-6. Start training"

Ahem

I calmly replied:

"Wait! what?! what have you done??"

When this is the only explanation offered at the time, surely you'd think that he was the one to bet on my money for a game of basketball... my question(s): how much money are ya costing me? when? what the heck is going on?? with whom?? wait, exactly how much money????

Upon hastily probing for an explanation after work, this is what i found out.
1) matthew started the day as usual, bragging about how good he played basketball earlier on
2) the lawyer had an idea
3) matthew and his colleague (also my friend) were called into the attorney's office
4) there was some smug & smack talk going on about who can play basketball better than the other.
5) a bet was placed.

If me and my bro would win his colleague and her sister 21 to 6, winner would get $100. If the other team scored more than 7 points, they'd automatically win.

Another coworker got involved....she threw in that she'd make the winning team a homemade cake on top of the money.

Whew. so at least i'm not losing any money. haha

Monday, February 18. President's Day. Game time.

We stayed at the chapel after fhe.
We played. hard.

Score was 18 to 4. we were up. i thought there might be a chance of winning.
Then they scored. 18 to 6. they began celebrating....but oh, too soon.
They handed me the take-back ball before they were ready. i passed to matthew. he scored a 3.

21 to 6.

Game.

It felt good to win i'm not gonna lie. the cake was good. no hard feelings though. we shared a little.

We really just wanted a good excuse to play basketball again. poor andrews girls......they worked my bro hard in that game though. mehehehhhehe;)

life is good.

I was kinda having a bad day today. for no reason at all....just felt like sticking a hot knife into the gut, ya know. but then i came here and started reading some good friend's posts. and life became beautiful again.

So thank you for making life beautiful. and thank you for being yourself. and thank you for posting.

Well, anyways. i have had a brilliant couple months. i probably won't catch up on it all, but to sum up january:

the guys belen found who were actually really good tourguides.
& bought us gelato haha
Belen came to visit:). for 15 days this time. and i got to have so much fun with her. and she put highlights in my hair. and we went latin dancing, and to institutes, and church, and to the mall, and out with random boys that belen has a knack of finding to take us places....and she showed me how to make italian spaghetti sauce (with tuna, weird), and we talked about life. in spanglish. i had a good time with my cousin.

my hand is bigger than my head. awkward angle

venetian. her request.

February

1st: For the first time in a looong time i decided to pray for "an opportunity to share my testimony somehow with someone". that's how i worded it as i drove to work. work finished. i came home. i went to the church to play basketball. i'd forgotten about the prayer the entire day. matthew and a bunch of people from my ward went to sushi. i didn't know about it. i went home. i found that matthew had invited a VERY DEAR friend to the sushi thing. a girl i knew growing up. long story short. they are not of my faith, i was adopted into their family a long time ago, we were backyard neighbors but they moved across town. we lost touch. she had now moved back into that house. & i visited them for the first time in YEARS. it almost felt just like old times:) afterwards i realized my prayer from that morning was answered. because since she went to the sushi thing she met the missionaries. and as we walked over to her house i spoke about how awesome the missionaries are.....testimony. great day.

2nd: I ran my first 5k in under 30 minutes. bought a couple things for my friends. great day.

3rd: I was surprised to find that one of my old patients found me on facebook & left me a long thank you message saying how i have influenced his life. i probably didn't deserve what he said, but it felt good. i bore my testimony for the first time in months, maybe even a year. ari was at church. i spent the evening with my sisters painting valentine's decorations. great day.

4th: Donated blood. found out i'm A+. i've always wondered about that. saw ari. great day.

5th: Spanish institute class. saw natalie. she gave me hershey's cookies&cream chocolate and a skirt for my birthday. found out i am now involved in a $100 basketball duel scheduled for president's day. greaaat.

6th: Went to the temple to do baptisms. wearing my new skirt. no better way to spend a 21st birthday in vegas. that one's for the record!;) great day.

7th: Sushi night....because i missed the first one.

8th: Cabin trip in Brian Head for the RS overnighter. i rode with bro bowman. it was brilliant. played in the snow at midnight. didn't sleep til 4 or 5a.

9th: Wonderful cabin breakfast. got dressed in snow clothes. went tubing. ate yummy crockpot food. traveled back to vegas. then straight to imagine dragons concert with ari:D. we moshed it up. then bought shirts. best. birthday. surprise. ever!! i still can't get the smile off my face.

10th: Family dinner. sister missionaries and friend invited. dinner and dessert of choice. family time at the table then by the fire. homemade cake&cupcakes. surprise gift. best day ever.

11th: Ari and i rocked those imagine dragons shirts at fhe. got some cool pictures. i love my life.

Like i said. it's been a wonderful month. i've never had a february as adventure-filled as this one. what have i done to deserve all this? why do i have such great people in my life? i am so blessed. please don't ever end.

Oh btw. you know what i realized today? sometimes people complain about things/situations that they have direct control over. that is something i don't think i'll ever understand.

Wanna know what else i've realized lately? i finally figured out what category of people i fall under...i am a tailored gospel-punk-hippie. that's me. you wouldn't believe how accurate it is.

captured

No. i'm not captured...well, maybe in a prism of awesomeness!!! but what is captured is a handful of memories through pictures. & i just wanna say....i am SO glad my friends are spectacular enough to have cool phones that take cool pictures, since this weekend was fanatically great and i didn't bring my camera anywhere with me.

So expect greatness in the next few posts. because my friends are great. with pictures...

super star!!!

I see a trend here. i didn't post last january either....what is up with that?
But that doesn't mean my january wasn't awesome.....in fact, it was TOO awesome. but i hate playing catch up on here....it's just no bueno.
However, today i am so excited & i would like to make a big announcement...

I jogged my first race ever today!!!!!
The big 5K :D

& even though a couple of you might scoff and think...."5k??? that's what this is all about? a lowly 3.2 miles?" & to that i say HEECK YESSSS!

As i was making my bucketlist, which i need to update btw, i started typing out "run a marath...." then immediately deleted it. i never thought i'd be one to run anything after high school and my embarrassing track days. ;)

But my friend elise got the idea in my head, sent me an invitation, and next thing i knew i found myself taking full advantage of a 14-day free gym pass or jogging to the park practically sort of every day for 2 weeks.

Run for a Wish!!!

My attire:
123[4]5

team super star!!!
& of course my arm, which happens to be gay, is akwardly hanging off to the side.

sparky purple skirts!

storm troopers :)
Is it too late to add this to my bucketlist then cross it out. it'll make me feel better about myself ;) haha

Now, am i doing the color run or devil dash next......? :)
I forgot how good it feels to run! what a great way to start off my favorite month

P.s. i finished to 5k in just under 30 minutes (i didn't have a goal, but this is good). 29:53. The only problem with that is now i actually have expectations to live up to for next time...
