"We have been challenged in basketball for our honor and money.... We have to win 21-6. Start training"
Ahem
I calmly replied:
"Wait! what?! what have you done??"
When this is the only explanation offered at the time, surely you'd think that he was the one to bet on my money for a game of basketball... my question(s): how much money are ya costing me? when? what the heck is going on?? with whom?? wait, exactly how much money????
Upon hastily probing for an explanation after work, this is what i found out.
1) matthew started the day as usual, bragging about how good he played basketball earlier on
2) the lawyer had an idea
3) matthew and his colleague (also my friend) were called into the attorney's office
4) there was some smug & smack talk going on about who can play basketball better than the other.
5) a bet was placed.
If me and my bro would win his colleague and her sister 21 to 6, winner would get $100. If the other team scored more than 7 points, they'd automatically win.
Another coworker got involved....she threw in that she'd make the winning team a homemade cake on top of the money.
Whew. so at least i'm not losing any money. haha
Monday, February 18. President's Day. Game time.
We stayed at the chapel after fhe.
We played. hard.
Score was 18 to 4. we were up. i thought there might be a chance of winning.
Then they scored. 18 to 6. they began celebrating....but oh, too soon.
They handed me the take-back ball before they were ready. i passed to matthew. he scored a 3.
21 to 6.
Game.
It felt good to win i'm not gonna lie. the cake was good. no hard feelings though. we shared a little.
We really just wanted a good excuse to play basketball again. poor andrews girls......they worked my bro hard in that game though. mehehehhhehe;)
