quickly turn it upside down!

If you chance to meet a frown,
Do not let it stay!
Quickly turn it upside down and smile that frown away.

I vividly remember my dad singing this song to me when i was little. they say that i cried a lot as a wee one....but i didn't really; they don't know what they're talking about.

Annnywho, i went through a phase where i often petitioned with my dad to sing this to me. because it was awesome! every time we got to the "quickly turn it upside down" part, he would flip me over & i would just dangle there until the song was over.

Sometimes my dad would say, "but you don't have a frowny face." here's the perks to being a smart kid. i would immediately force my lips into a downward U. >> the frown.
He'd roll his eyes. at least i could totally feel his reluctance to sing again...
Then he's start softly, slowly....and speed up at the part he had to flip me upside down! suspense. it was genius. it was great.

I can still feel the devious grin crawling over my face as the song started, in knowing anticipation. the brief swooping moment followed as my feet left the ground and the world briefly spun around me.
I can still feel the blood rush up into my forehead, then my ears, then eyes...my long brown hair swaying above me.

It was a small triumph knowing dad gave in & did it that one more time. dad probably has, but i have not forgotten... this little memory.

And it makes me smile. :)

No one likes a frowny-face.
Change it for a smile.
Make the world a better place by smiling all the while.
