i'm aging

Signs of an aging COTA:

1. you can pick out an older lady's medical history at food 4 less just by how she walks.
2. you a-little-too-comfortably participate in conversations about personal health problems -- because it's fun.
3. when great-grandma comes to visit for the first time in years, you are hasty to help her stand & lift her by her pelvis (ahem) to give her a boost. she looks at you funny.
4. then you follow her to the bathroom. she looks at you incredulously, says "goodbye" and closes the bathroom door in your face.
5. you remember she's been walking on her own for years. she's not your patient, fool.
6. you have an official "6 month appraisal" with your supervisors. they tell you you've passed probation. they update you on umc policies. it's now very unlikely to ever get fired. and they try to convince you that you're planning on working there for another 12 years.

I'm a six-monther as of april. my treatments are smoother. i'm getting comfortable with conversing with my patients. i'm more confident with my own decisions and judgement. i think i'm even starting to get a little lazy! haha oops. i'm just feeling more fluid with my role and my job.

No one's died on me yet. i haven't killed anyone. i'm getting to know the other therapists better. and i only dropped a man once! (true story. he's okay though, but it wasn't on our agenda.)

So hurrah! HUZZAH HUZZAH. i'm in business baby.

Our PT friends got us cake for April -- occupational therapy month. it was the most delicious pastry known to man. marble chocolate glory disguised as cake...glorified cake, if you will. i don't even like cake, but this was divine.
